I have lots of WebPages and WebSite that use Google Maps.

Today I have spent some time on one of the WebPages to provide the choice of either Google or OpenSpace.

It is still a bit rough and ready but I wondered if you might be interested.

If so, visit:
http://www.ibrus.co.uk/ibrus2/

Scroll down til you see a button "My Favourites", click on it !!

It will take a few moments to appear - it is doing a lot of work.

When it appears, scroll to the bottom.

The "Google" button has been there for many years.

Do try it first !!

(by the way, this site was designed and optimised for Internet Explorer - it will be worked on to be OK in all Major browsers soon.)

Next try the "OS" button

The "H" for Hotels is a bit in your face, but it serves for this moment !!

I don't know how to get rid of the White in the Tiles at the fully Zoomed Out level - any thoughts would be gratefully accepted.

It demonstrates the art of the possible - polishing it will continue soon.

Please will Tamsyn, some other OS person or anyone tell me how to get rid of the white at level zero.

My brain has given up trying.

Hi Peter,

The issue seems to lie in the layer extents within the service.

It seems that on some of the OpenSpace layers, the layer extents do not correspond to the actual extent of the data – they’ve been set too large and so when the service runs out of actual tiles, it shows white instead of the background colour that can be set for the div tag which contains the map

Unfortunately this is a known issue and we will look to resolve this in the future and will add this as a requirement to our roadmap.

Kind regards

Tamsyn

Tamsyn

Thank you for this information.

I need to consider leaving the addition of OS at the side of Google until the problem is fixed.

Also to removing the button mentioned in the original post.

I have had several telephone calls moaning and muttering "un-professional"

Can you add a Memo note to this item in your Roadmap saying "let Byers know when cured"

I would have thought it was possible to patch the layer extents after OpenSpace has loaded.

Try looking in the source code here http://sourceforge.net/projects/osgbwebmaptools/

Tamsyn said on the 13th Feb that this would be added to the roadmap.

Please could a 'progress report' be given about this problem

Thanks

Seems like the February Roadmap must have been very huge.

Would like to go back to the "0" level but comments from users about the white area are pointing me to remove the OS map

Please tell me something concrete, even if it is "no chance of it being corrected"

Hi Pete,

The Roadmap is extremely large and we are currently in project mode and will be for the foreseeable future, unfortunately I am unable to confirm anything concrete apart from saying that this is something we will look into at some stage.

Thank you for your post

Hi Pete,

I have spoken to one of my developers and he thinks this issue only affects the free service and as such we are looking at a number of significant improvements to this service which should result in this issue being eradicated. This should be completed this financial year all going to plan.
